when there is no more secret

my son, Faiz, has been able to read since he was 4.5 years old. no wonder. he loves ABC so much ever since he knew how to play. his main interest except playing a ball are any games with ABC and numbers (books, puzzles, car, robot singing all the alphabets, …). actually his ability to read by himself is always my number one wish list. simply because, so that i don’t have to read the books for him *grin*. not because i don’t want to or i don’t enjoy, it’s just sometimes i just can’t wait to read any books i bought. so i think if he can read the books by himself, we will just be busy to read our books once we bought new books.

et voila, the time has come. now he collects his own doraemon mangas. every week, we will go to book store to see if the next series has arrived. i will browse for a glass mask series, he will browse doraemon. once we got home, silence is  in the air, we are busy with the mangas haha! but now with his reading skills, keeping secret from him is another challenge. i’m no longer be able to be carelessly put my handphone without locking it because he will read my messages. sometimes he use my twitter account to greet my sister *oh dear* as his writing ability now becoming advance as well. and recently, he found my new secret that i keep in my drawer. he read it loudly. and now he is over excited about that. sorry for not being clear about the subject as it is not yet official anyway.

2012: Bring it on!

Happy new year everyone! Just like every new year, the word resolution is the most popular i guess. Well, my resolution this year, just don’t get bored making resolution. Haha!

2011 the best year ever. I can accomplished one of to do list before 40: doing Al-Hajj in Mecca (my praises to Allah). Such a beautiful journey, i will cherish for sure every moments i spent. And hopefully will do come back there again and again and again. Aamiin.

Simple wish for this year, i need to force my self  to read all the pending books in my book shelves and keep resisting my self for not buying any new books before finish them all

It won’t be easy, i don’t think i can make it especially for the mangas. Haha! But will try for novels and biography *crossing fingers*

And last but not least, my never ending wish: I want to be pregnant again. Dear Allah the Almighty, please bless my wish. Aamiin

 

Nikmat mana lagi yang kau dustakan?

seminggu terakhir ini dan mungkin sampai minggu depan, kebanyakan status teman-teman di facebook masihlah berkisar mengenai hasil evaluasi belajar anak-anak mereka di sekolah. turut berbahagia atas prestasi putra putri kalian di sekolah. faiz belum ambil rapor, planningnya tanggal 29. tapi tanpa rapor, buat saya dia sudah jadi juara. anak nomor satu diseluruh dunia. bagaimana tidak, diumurnya yang baru 5.5 tahun dia sudah bisa bacaan sholat kecuali bacaan tahiyat. masya Allah, saya dulu diusia dia jangankan hapal bacaan sholat, ikut-ikutan orang tua sholat juga tidak. darimana saya tahu kalau anak saya hafal bacaan sholat kecuali bacaan tahiyat? jadi malam itu dia memilih sholat sendirian, tidak berjamaah dengan kami. dan ketika sholat dia mengencangkan semua bacaan sholatnya. ingin menangis rasanya mendengar dia melafalkan bacaan-bacaan itu. bacaan al fatihah, bacaan ruku, robbana wa lakal hamd, bacaan sujud, bacaan duduk diantara dua sujud, dan bacaan tahiyatnya yang belum sempurna. terus terang saya pribadi belum pernah mengajarkan bacaan-bacaan sholat ini, hanya surat-surat pendek untuk dia hafalkan dan do’a-do’a karena saya pikir dengan dia mau mengikuti kami sholat 5 waktu saja sudah luar biasa. sambil jalan akan saya mulai ajarkan bacaannya. jadi bisa saya pastikan ini adalah hasil belajar di sekolahnya. selama di sekolah saya tahu sholat dhuha selalu menjadi jadwal pagi mereka, kemudian karena faiz setelah sekolah mengikuti extended program dia punya kesempatan sholat zuhur dan ashar di baby school atau tempat penitipan sampai sore. dan inilah berkahnya alhamdulillah. jadi nikmat mana lagi yang kau dustakan non?

 

 

 

22 Desember – Selamat Hari Ibu

Bahagia sangat

Perayaan hari ibu disekolah Faiz diisi dengan serangkaian kegiatan yang disiapkan oleh komite sekolah

Mulai tanggal 20 Desember kemarin diadakan lomba menggambar dan seminar dari seorang pelukis dengan tema ibu, guru kreatifitasku

Sayang seribu sayang, saya tidak bisa melihat Faiz ikut lomba menggambar dan seminar tanggal 20 kemarin, jadilah hari ini saya bela-belain ijin dari kantor untuk datang acara hari H-nya. (Acting) bos saya bilang hal-hal seperti kehadiran kamu di acara sekolah manfaatnya bukan buat sekolah tapi buat anakmu sendiri. Baiklah bos, siaaapp

Disekolah diadakan juga lomba-lomba ibu dan anak. Saya dan faiz ikut yang lomba balap sarung, iya sarung bukan karung. Dan kami kalah tapi kami senang tertawa-tawa bersama. Sebenarnya kita berhasil yg pertama kali masuk finish, tapi karena salah paham mengenai batas garis balik saya dan faiz terpaksa didiskualifikasi. Tak mengapa yang penting faiz jelas sekali terlihat senang karena saya bisa datang dan berlomba. Tidak bisa saya bayangkan perasaannya kalau saja tadi saya tidak hadir.

Kejutan yang menyenangkan dihari ibu ini faiz juara 3 lomba menggambar. Senangnyaaa. Selama ini kalau menggambar standardnya pemandangan (gunung, rumput, awan, matahari) atau kincir angin yang dia suka lihat di film-film kartun thomas and friends Tapi kali ini ternyata berbeda.

Ada cerita lucu urusan juara lomba menggambar ini. Jadi tanggal 20 kemarin sepulang sekolah sesuai jadwal menjemput dengan supir baru yang lebih cepat dari pada supir yang lama, Faiz terpaksa menunggu di kantor saya karena belum waktunya jam pulang kantor. Sore itu langsung saya tanya jadi bagaimana lombanya, menang atau tidak.

 ”Aku juara satu Bu”, katanya

“Oh ya”, timpal saya. “Hebat dong, dapet hadiah apa?”

“Ngga dapet hadiah apa-apa”, kata Faiz lagi

Saya langsung mikir pasti ini anak salah pengertian deh. Setelah saya investigasi lagi ternyata oh ternyata dia yang paling selesai duluan mengerjakan gambarnya. Dan dia mengira karena selesai duluan maka dialah juaranya. Duh!

By the way, bisa ngerti ngga apa yang di gambar Faiz? karena ayahnya bilang itu gambar kapal selam. Jauh banget

 

You should think the other way

Out of the blue, mister-i-don’t-want-to-mention called me on that gloomy afternoon and asked me to pass by. Herecomes the conversation:

Mister: everybody appreciate what you’ve done except yourself
Me : errrr…
         (mister,  i appreciate myself waaay too much that’s why i keep insisting doing something that don’t comfort me is disaster )
          (please think the other way, i’m all out for something i don’t enjoy yet you guys are happy with the results. Now imagine i’m all out for anything i enjoy, what would you feel?)

Wake up call

Alarm paling ampuh pagi ini: “Bu bangun bu, aku kan harus sholat subuh 2 rakaat” – Faiz, 5 years 3 months old

Maid-less

I think it is a global issue in big cities in Indonesia after Eid-Fitr festival, lots of household lost their maids and lots of them have their new ones. This year i’m one of the lost. Classic reason, they simply just want to get married that’s it. I’ve been in maid-less situation before and it was not bad i would say. It was not at all maid-less = madness
Anyway, at the beginning i was trying to find her replacement. But with the criteria i have that she must be from Java, it becomes more and more difficult. Some people still think that going to Borneo island is like going to adventure in jungle. Maybe it’s true in some parts, but Balikpapan is far from what they’ve imagined. Facing this difficulty, i decided to be in maid-less situation permanently.
Everything will be simple if we make it simple by the way. I moved my son to a school where they have day care after school. The problem is they close at 5 pm meanwhile we (my husband and I) finish our work at 5:30 pm the soonest. First day at school after Eid-Fitr, we tried to use pick and drop service. We estimated that the driver could drop my son at my office just in time around 5:30 pm but in fact he arrived sooner
In this kind of situation (i wouldn’t say “complicated”, because it’s not), good relationship with friends and their wives are needed. While we kept looking for our own driver, I asked my friend favor to pick her son at the daycare together with my son then I will pick my son at her house. And everybody are happy about this. Especially the kids as they can continue playing again This pick and drop issue has solved since we find already our own driver.
Speaking of managing the house, cooking, doing laundry etc, well it is all about how you want to do it. I choose to use catering service for dinner only monday to friday, i prepare myself for the breakfast. For the rests of household matters, i prefer to do them myself. Now, even ironing or mopping the floor is planned in my weekly agenda
The good thing of this maid-less stuff is i lost 2 kg, which is impossible with the housemaid doing everything for me. I feel happier and i can do anything just like the way i want it to be done. Having housemaid doing everything for me, if it is not exactly like i want it to be, usually i feel annoyed and angry. But now, no body to be blamed of. The one i need to blame is myself if things are going in the wrong direction

It is normal to give any information, knowledge and anything that are considered important to newly joined peers without any hesitance. But it is abnormal later on being cornered by your peers during any discussion/meeting as if they know better.

moral of the story: at some points, we need to stop feeding people. they are really sucks when they are full
